Microcarpaea minima 'Merrill'

Aquatic plant with miniature leaves belonging to the family Plantaginaceae. This variety is named after the eminent American botanist Elmer Drew Merrill. The leaves of this variety are very small, barely larger than a grain of rice, and form a dense mat. She prefers moderate to bright light and adequate fertilization to grow well. It is also sensitive to high nitrate and phosphate levels in aquarium water.
