This aquascaping rock is adorned with irregular holes that give the impression that this stone has been partially consumed by insects, earning it the nickname "Bug-Eaten Rock". These holes occur slowly over time and are caused by natural erosion.

Due to its unique appearance and interesting character, Hakkai Stone is highly sought after by aquascapers and remains a hot commodity in the planted aquarium hobby. Its dark coloration brings out the color in aquarium plants and in "river" style aquascapes.
