Before using natural products such as bugs, leaves or other organic elements in your aquarium, we would like to inform you of the necessary precautions to avoid potential problems. Here are some important points to consider:
Risk of a Bacterial Spike: When you add new organics to your aquarium, it can cause organic matter levels to rise and promote bacteria growth. To minimize this risk, it is recommended to add the natural elements one by one, leaving enough time between each addition to allow the biological system to adapt gradually.
Rinsing the elements: Before adding the natural elements to your aquarium, it is advisable to rinse them carefully with clear water. This can help remove any impurities, possible pesticides or unwanted chemicals that may be present on the elements.
Drain the elements: Certain organic elements, such as dried leaves, can release chemical compounds or tannins into the aquarium water. These substances can change the color of the water and may even be beneficial for some fish that prefer more acidic water. However, to avoid excessive coloring, it is recommended that the elements be soaked in separate water for an appropriate period of time until the water ceases to color significantly.
Monitor Water Parameters: After adding new natural elements, it is important to regularly monitor your aquarium water parameters, such as pH, water hardness, and ammonia levels and nitrites. If you observe any unusual changes, you will need to take steps to keep these parameters within appropriate limits for the health of your fish.
We would also like to point out that natural products are unique pieces. Deviations from the illustration and description may therefore occur, but this underlines the individual charm and uniqueness of each item.
